Inside the plug-in

The installer includes these components, unmodified, each under its own licence. Nothing in the Terms limits what those licences let you do.

  • What OpenCV includes

Ball Tracer uses OpenCV's official build. It carries a few smaller libraries of its own, such as zlib, libjpeg-turbo, libpng, libtiff, libwebp and OpenJPEG. Every one of them, with its licence, is in the notices file.

  • FFmpeg: the source code, and using your own

The helper program reads your shot's video with FFmpeg, built from the official source with no changes and without any GPL or non-free part. Its files sit on their own in the plug-in's helper folder, so you can replace them with your own build; the notices file says how.

The source code is the official release from ffmpeg.org. A copy is kept here: FFmpeg source code (zip), and for earlier builds of Ball Tracer, the source of the previous FFmpeg build (zip).

  • Microsoft DirectML

The AI Ball Finder runs on your graphics card through DirectML and ONNX Runtime. DirectML's licence says it may send information about its use to Microsoft. That is Microsoft's collection, not Ball Tracer's; the privacy page says more.

  • Ball Tracer's own parts

The plug-in, its helper program (BallTracerHelper.exe) and its two AI models (ballheat.onnx and ballscore.onnx, trained on Ball Tracer's own footage) are Ball Tracer's, under the Terms, with no third-party licence.

  • Not included

OpenCV's own FFmpeg plug-in is not shipped. OpenCL.dll comes with your graphics driver. In DaVinci Resolve, the plug-in uses the Visual C++ runtime that Resolve installs; the helper carries its own copy.

The full notices

Every licence text, in full, is installed with Ball Tracer as THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt in C:\Program Files\Ball Tracer, and published here: THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt

The Premiere Pro plug-in

The Premiere Pro plug-in uses the same engine and the same components, except the OpenFX Support Library, which only DaVinci Resolve needs. It installs its own notices file.
